What Should Occupy Wall Street Do Next?
This was a comment in reply to Occupy Wall Streets initial call to action. I think it’s points (besides single payer system) are definitely achievable. The marches were great for public rallying and awareness but now I think its time to stop protesting and start taking action and these points are a good place to start:
You need to have specific, tangible and realistic demands.
Demand the following:
- SIngle Payer Health Care
- Reinstate Glass Steagall
- Overturn Citizen United/Campaign Finance Reform
- Revoke Corporate Personhood law
- Close corporate tax loopholes
- Raise taxes on upper incomes
- Address US job outsourcing
Now THAT would be a START.
Here’s another good article in recommending that Occupy Wall Street work across the nation for a constitutional amendment requiring Congress to regulate the expenditure of private money on elections.
